The CSMA Philharmonic Orchestra was created in the year 2013-2014 as part of the academic and artistic activities of the Conservatory. It is mainly formed by students of the first years of instrumental training, and it aims to get all instrumentalists of orchestral specialities familiar with professional orchestral artistic development from their very first day. The Conducting students also take part in this orchestra, and share all the preparatory work, both in rehearsals and concerts with the principal conductor, Mr. Borjas Quintas.
The presentation of their concerts takes place at the “Eduardo del Pueyo” Auditorium. Every musician in this group gains instrumental and creative experience that spreads beyond the one gained by personal study and development. Concerts become indicators of level, quality, and experience in the field of their own instrument and orchestral training.
Its repertoire covers different styles, with pieces where students may also participate as soloists, which offers an overall range of opportunities for experience within the orchestral field. This training will be completed up to the highest level by the Symphonic Orchestra in subsequent years.
Its current conductor is Borja Quintas.
