It may refer to \u201cwhole\u201d consorts, in which all the instruments were of one family but of different sizes (Whole Consort: recorders, violas da gamba, lutes, etc.), and \u201cbroken\u201d consorts, incorporating different families of instruments (Broken Consort: lutes, violas da gamba, and recorders, for example).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--EndFragment-->[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=&#8221;&#8221;
